Summary:

Ground has been broken on the new hospital/teaching facility for the College of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Georgia on College Station Road and Barnett Shoals.   Construction is now underway and will last 22 months with a completion date for the end of 2014.   There will be entrances on bothCollege Station and Barnett Shoals, with the addition of de-acceleration lanes.  As of this time, there are no plans for any other renovations toCollege Station Road.  The facility will encompass several LEED Gold status sustainable buildings totaling 300,000 square feet; it will include a 24 hour emergency clinic.   There are no bio level 2 or 3 labs.  This is strictly a teaching hospital for all species.  The facility will bring close to 400-500 students, faculty and staff.

New Business

Promo cards:

UHCA produced full color, double-sided, 9”x4” “promo cards.  These cards are being used to welcome new owners and are available for use by folks trying to sell or rent their home.   They are very nice.

Volunteer Organization:

UHCA is compiling a list of folks that would be willing to be included on a list of volunteers that would be willing to donate their time or expertise to neighbors in need that might not have the financial or physical means to do necessary work or repairs to their home, or might need a helping hand.   The neighborhood includes many elderly and retired folks that might need a helping hand once in a while.  If you are willing to be on the list, or need help now, email Kathleen Powell at powellkay@gmail.com or call 901) 371-6698.
